Safety & Community Policy
Effective July 30, 2026 · SIGMA SIGMA HOLDINGS LLC d/b/a Communly
This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It sets the rules everyone on Communly must follow.
1. Zero tolerance
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Violating this policy can get your content removed and your account permanently terminated, without notice and without refund. Serious violations may be reported to law enforcement, campus authorities, payment processors, and app stores.
2. No alcohol, drugs, or age-restricted substances
This is the rule we enforce most strictly. You may not mention, advertise, promote, imply, include, coordinate, sell, furnish, distribute, or charge for any of the following through Communly:
- alcohol of any kind, including open bars, BYOB coordination, "drinks included," "21+ only" framing used to signal alcohol, drinking games, kegs, handles, or wristbands for drinking;
- drugs, cannabis, controlled substances, prescription medication, or drug paraphernalia;
- nicotine, tobacco, vapes, or similar age-restricted products;
- fake IDs or anything used to evade age verification; or
- intoxication-focused activity of any kind.
This applies to listing titles, descriptions, photos, tags, prices, messages, questions, club rooms, reviews, and every other place you can put text or images on Communly.
Communly does not sell, furnish, provide, serve, or permit alcohol or any controlled substance, and no listing on Communly may be used to do so. Hosts who serve alcohol at a gathering do so entirely on their own responsibility and in violation of these Terms — social host liability and dram shop laws may make them personally liable.
3. No hazing, coercion, or exploitation
Communly may not be used for:
- hazing, initiation rituals, pledge tasks, or anything conditioning membership on enduring humiliation, risk, or harm;
- forced or pressured consumption of any substance;
- coercion, threats, intimidation, or blackmail;
- sexual exploitation, trafficking, prostitution, or solicitation;
- stalking, doxxing, harassment, bullying, or discrimination; or
- violence or threats of violence.
Hazing is a crime in most states and a violation of every campus conduct code we are aware of. We will report credible hazing reports to campus authorities or law enforcement.
4. Rules for everyone
- Act honestly and respectfully.
- Follow the law and your campus policies.
- Meet in safe, public, or well-populated locations where possible.
- Tell a friend where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- Respect consent and personal boundaries.
- Do not attend or host while intoxicated, reckless, or impaired.
- Report unsafe or illegal listings, users, and messages.
- Cooperate with safety investigations.
5. Rules for hosts
If you host an event, party, dinner, or gathering, you are solely responsible for its safety, staffing, supervision, and legality. Hosts must:
- have actual permission to use the venue, home, or property;
- comply with fire code, capacity limits, building rules, noise ordinances, campus rules, and local law;
- give an accurate location, time, capacity, and entry requirement in the listing;
- not oversell or overcrowd;
- provide supervision appropriate to the size and nature of the event;
- keep the space reasonably safe and take reasonable steps to prevent foreseeable harm;
- not serve or permit alcohol, drugs, or other prohibited substances;
- cancel or stop the event if it becomes unsafe or unlawful; and
- cooperate with law enforcement, campus authorities, venue owners, and emergency responders.
6. Food safety
If you list a dinner or any food offering, you must comply with food safety laws, health department rules, permit and cottage food requirements, and labeling rules. You must accurately disclose known allergens on request and must not misrepresent ingredients.
Communly does not inspect kitchens, verify food handling, test food, or guarantee food safety. If you have a serious allergy, ask the host directly and use your own judgment.
7. Reporting and blocking
You can report any listing from its page and block any user from their profile. Blocking stops them from contacting you. You can also email jpjewell0703@gmail.com directly.
We commit to reviewing reports of objectionable content and abusive behavior and aim to act within 24 hours. When you report something, include screenshots, descriptions, and any other evidence you have — it helps us act faster and more accurately.
We may investigate reports, request evidence, remove content, restrict or terminate accounts, preserve records, contact users, and escalate to authorities. Filing knowingly false reports is itself a violation.
8. What Communly does not provide
Being direct about our limits, because it matters:
- We do not attend, monitor, supervise, or control any event.
- We do not provide security, bouncers, crowd control, or staffing.
- We do not verify age at any door, and the Verified Student badge only means an account used a .edu email — it is not an identity, age, enrollment, or background check.
- We do not run background checks or criminal history checks on any user.
- We do not inspect venues, homes, kitchens, or vehicles.
- We do not approve venues or obtain permits for anyone.
- We do not provide emergency response or medical care.
- We do not provide insurance of any kind — not for users, hosts, attendees, listings, events, food, goods, services, or property. You are responsible for obtaining any insurance you need.
- We do not give anyone permission to access a campus, dorm, classroom, gym, stadium, fraternity or sorority house, private property, or any venue.
9. Legal compliance
Users are responsible for complying with all laws, regulations, permits, licenses, tax obligations, campus policies, venue rules, contracts, leases, insurance requirements, payment processor rules, app store rules, and third-party rights. We may remove or restrict any content or account that creates legal, safety, financial, or reputational risk.
